Title: ‘The Waiting Game’. A mixed media work for the Annual Blue Mountains Cultural Centre Collection Fundraiser.

For 2023 the format for this work is a diptych (2 hinged panels). Total Dimension: 390mm W x 127mm H.
Media: mixed – acrylic paint, ink, balsa wood, photo media (print on canvas).
Description: Standing within this historic mural painted on the Medlow Bath bus stop a young man waits, patiently reading. Is he waiting to be transported away or is she his tennis partner on the court waiting for their game to begin?
The completed artwork is folded and wax-sealed for the exhibition opening. Once a bid was placed on the artwork the wax seal was allowed to be broken, revealing the artwork inside. Bidding then continues as per previous Collectors’ Edition fundraisers. At the conclusion of the exhibition the highest bidder on each artwork gets to purchase the work, with all proceeds going to the Blue Mountains Cultural Centre Collection Acquisition Fund.
In 2023 the Cultural Centre is seeking to purchase two major artworks for the Collection. Video work, The Running of the Eels (2022), and blown glass sculptures, Ngalawan – We Live, We Remain: The Call of Ngurra (Country) 2022, by respected Dharug artist, Leanne Tobin. Tobin is a multidisciplinary artist of Irish, English and Aboriginal heritage who has positively impacted local communities and institutions through her tireless activism and collaboration. Her art practice seeks to encourage an open and honest dialogue about the past and to nurture, respect and care for Country.
